Marie Skłodowska-Curie Early Stage Researcher (PhD) in UK 2019

The University of London is inviting applications for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Early Stage Researcher PhD Position in UK 2019.
The School of Advanced Study, University of London is offering a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Early Stage Researcher position in the context of the CLEOPATRA ITN: ‘Cross-lingual Event-centric Open Analytics Research Academy’ The research is in the fields of digital humanities, media and communication studies, and library and information studies.
The position is offered full-time for three years (36 months). The appointee will: Conduct research at the School of Advanced Study, University of London, one of the partner universities in the Cleopatra ITN, Provide important input to the development of a common integrated cross-lingual data analytics platform, Actively participate in the training programme offered by the CLEOPATRA ITN, Engage with researchers in the host and partner universities, and in other UK and EU partner organizations.
Worth of Award
  • Salary: in the range £37,759  £43,179 per annum – subject to bi-annual review due to exchange rates.
  • The salary per annum payable to the successful candidates will differ from the ‘researcher unit cost’ as set out in the Grant Agreement.
  • The unit cost is to cover all employment costs and Employer’s liabilities to HMRC and any applicable employer’s pension contributions must, therefore, be deducted before from the available budget before arriving at the amount available as salary.
Eligibility
To be eligible applicants must
  • Satisfy the mobility requirements of Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions, which means that at the time of recruitment, the potential candidate must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of the recruiting beneficiary (in this instance, the UK) for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately before the recruitment date. There are some exemptions.
  • Be in the first four years (full-time equivalent research experience) of their research careers and have not been awarded a doctoral degree.
